Have you seen the fail whale?

I think we’re all pretty aware of how much technology has impacted our lives over the years. I know that I live, breathe, eat, and sleep technology. I can find nearly ANYTHING I want on the web, I can post a tweet for help with Drupal to get help from my amazing developer friends, I can upload and tag photos from my phone…the possibilities are seriously endless. But, at the same time that thought makes me so excited, it kind of makes me cringe. Let me explain.
Music Treat of the Week: This Providence
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 12/06/2009 - 11:28pmA couple weeks ago I went to see Cartel at The Social here in Orlando (my most favorite venue in O-Town!) and This Providence was one of the opening bands. Always hit or miss, as I think everyone knows. But surprisingly, this one was a hit.

I am in love. Simple as that.

I was driving up to Gainesville early this morning and it hit me that it’s really Thanksgiving again. Wow. Seriously? I’m not sure how this year has flown by so fast that we’re already worrying about holiday traffic and planning what time to set the coffee maker for the day after Thanksgiving shopping. Or how we’re already figuring out what color hand turkey we’re going to make and eating ourselves to a complete food coma just in time to catch some afternoon football.
"I have an angel on my shoulder but a devil in my head"
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 11/22/2009 - 11:09pmI ventured down to Miami this weekend to see Kaskade at the Mansion. Kaskade is the stage name for Ryan Reddon - a DJ/Producer/Remixer/Artist. Words really can't describe how amazing it was to see him live. Even though I'm not a big fan of the Miami scene, his vibe and passion was INCREDIBLE. And a year ago, I didn't even like this style music but now I really can't get enough. So, give it a shot, and check out some of my favorites:

I had a completely different post ready for you today and then with the drop of a dime, or really the ring of the phone, I changed it. On this phone call, we were talking about purging. No, not the kind of purging because we ate too much at lunch, or had one too many M&M’s, but more so cleaning out the closets, sheds, kitchens, or anything else you can think of and just getting rid of it. Saying goodbye to old things that are just taking up much needed and valued space.
Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 11/15/2009 - 9:55pmLast week, I ventured out to the Anti-Pop Music Fest to see Minus the Bear play. Besides the OVERLY packed music venue, this band was amazing. Originally from Washington, Minus the Bear (don’t let the name scare you, they’re awesome) is an indie rock band that has most definitely been around the block. I may not be venturing out to Club Firestone for shows anytime soon, but I will absolutely be putting Minus the Bear in my regular music line up.
Enjoy!
We've all heard this before, but listen a little closer this time.
Submitted by theunconvention... on Wed, 11/11/2009 - 7:19pmLast week, reality slapped me in the face yet again. Five people were injured and one person died in a mass shooting in downtown Orlando, FL (where I live!) I know that this sort of thing happens everyday, everywhere…hell that shooting happened in Fort Hood just the day before. Children are kidnapped and killed, three young softball players drive into a pond and die in North Dakota.

Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 11/08/2009 - 9:37pmI was searching through my car trunk the other day (who knows what I was looking for) and I found my old CD case. With much enthusiasm I ripped it open, eager to go back in time and get caught up in music memories of the past. Of course when I first opened it I saw N’Sync’s “No Strings Attached” in the first CD holder.
Ahhh yes…the craze of N’Sync.
I have the travel bug...
Submitted by theunconvention... on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 6:48pmAnd it really won't go away. I think I was first inspired when one of my most favorite bloggers just picked up her life and moved to Italy. Who does that? Unfortunately, I can't just pack up my bags and leave (yet) but there is one thing I can do - TRAVEL.
